Evolving the Patient Details for Better Patient Care

Muse, a Medalogix product, leverages predictive analytics to provide clinicians with the clinical evidence needed for better, more timely care decisions. However, the Muse Patient Details page required a modern redesign to address usability, accessibility, and responsiveness challenges. The existing interface limited user efficiency and navigation, creating barriers to seamless patient care. This project focused on implementing a fresh design system, improving navigation, and ensuring responsiveness to enhance the overall user experience.

Challenges

The visual design was outdated and did not leverage modern UI frameworks.
The page relied on full-screen modals to display three separate patient sections, requiring multiple clicks to access patient information.
When modals were launched, the global header disappeared, removing access to primary navigation.
The page was not responsive, making it unusable on tablet displays and limiting accessibility.

The original Patient Details page featured tabs and a fullscreen modal to display patient information.

Solutions

Developed a new design system for Muse, collaborating with development to implement variables and shared components for consistency.
Redesigned the page layout to be scrollable, removing reliance on modals and allowing users to view all patient sections at once.
Introduced a global navigation bar with search type-ahead functionality, improving accessibility and ease of use.
Redesigned every module on the Patient Details page for a more intuitive experience.
Designed a responsive version optimized for tablet displays to improve accessibility across devices.
Added a sticky header for seamless navigation to sections lower on the page.
Established a QA process to test responsive breakpoints, ensuring pixel-perfect implementation and consistency.

Outcomes

NSP (Net Satisfaction Score) increased year-over-year from 35 to 65, demonstrating a significant improvement in user experience and satisfaction.
The redesign modernized the Muse Patient Details page, enhancing usability, efficiency, and accessibility for healthcare professionals.

This project successfully transformed the Muse Patient Details page into a modern, user-friendly, and responsive interface, empowering clinicians with easier access to patient data and better decision-making tools.
